These five Heroes' contributions to their organization and their commitment to their profession make them a pretty Heroic team. Even in a tough economy, this group is helping it's organization thrive - and US Endoscopy is reaping the benefits. The company plans to create 46 new jobs in 2009. Let's unmask the heroes on US Endoscopy's HR Team:
Jen Clemente, HR Project Leader Just a few years ago, Jen was a one-person HR department, juggling the demands of a young family and the HR needs of an organization that was growing dramatically. She has helped the company grow from around 80 employees to nearly 275 today. Jen works closely with other departments to develop their recruiting practice, she has led the company's Employee Engagement survey effort, and has helped the company become a NorthCoast 99 winner.
Kathy Nye, Benefits Specialist What is Kathy's superpower? She's saving lives. Kathy coordinates the organization's health and wellness programs which includes a 175-employee Health Fair, a 10k a day fitness program, and a Smoking Cessation program. By the way, she's touching the lives of others too - Kathy coordinates all of the company's community service initiatives.
Beth Byrne, HR Assistant There's truth in numbers, and Beth is a perfect example of this. In 2007, US Endoscopy's product technician group had a 55% turnover rate. Beth came to the rescue, forming closer relationships with the company's manufacturing supervisors and implementing a new competency model. In 2008, turnover in this important employee group dropped to 18%.
Sean Mee, HR Manager Sean was instrumental in a recent compensation project within the organization that created a more fair and equitable compensation system which remained competitive with the external market. And if you're looking for "above-and-beyond", Sean recently made a special 2:00am trip to the office to help cook pancakes for US Endoscopy's third-shift employees.
Alice Santurri, Day Care Director Alice runs the company day care, The Modern Child, which provides care to approximately 40 children under the age of 5 on a daily basis. The job is essentially running a business within a business, and it's been so successful that Alice has a waiting list for the day care that keeps growing. But don't worry, Alice is already hard at work leading the expansion initiative.
